Bademli Village is one of Gökçeada’s historic villages! The village was recorded as Glykí in 1890 and as Giliki in 1928. In Greek, Glykí means “sweet” or “cute.” Bademli Village used to be known as one of the richest villages on the island. The villagers earned a good living through fruit growing, sponge diving, and animal husbandry. Bademli Village is one of four protected villages. Its historic stone houses, narrow streets, and flower-filled gardens make it worth visiting. There is a sundial in the village square dated 1903, reminding us that this is one of the island’s most important historical places.
