Transportation to Kayseri

Kayseri Erkilet Airport is located just 5 kilometres from the city centre and is quite a busy airport. There are regular direct flights from major cities such as Istanbul, Ankara, and Izmir to Kayseri. In addition, international flights are also operated from Erkilet Airport. What to Eat in Kayseri?

Kayseri is famous not only for its historical and cultural riches but also for its delicious food. If you ever visit Kayseri, there are some famous local flavours you absolutely must try! At the top of the list is Kayseri Mantısı. I recommend tasting it at Gubate Restaurant in Talas. This mouth-watering dish is made with tiny, thin pieces of dough filled with minced meat and spices, then served with yoghurt and garlic sauce.

In addition, pastırma (cured beef) and sucuk (spicy sausage) are among Kayseri’s most famous meat products — especially worth trying at breakfast. Besides these, there are other local delicacies like Yağlamalı Börek and Babaocağı Kısırı. We didn’t have the chance to try them, but I highly recommend you do!

Places to Visit Near Kayseri

Cappadocia: Located about 1 to 1.5 hours by car from Kayseri, Cappadocia is famous for its fairy chimneys, underground cities, and hot air balloon tours. Easily accessible from Kayseri, this region is a must-see destination with its unique landscapes.
